Our Community

Wheatland FCU has been a part of Lancaster County since its inception in 1936. We have a firm sense of commitment to the county we serve and belong to.

Wheatland FCU participates and sponsors some charity and community events on a regular basis and also some projects as they come along. Below is a listing of some of our 2006 events:

  • American Cancer Society "Relay for Life", Wheatland FCU is a proud sponsor of the Lancaster and Elizabethtown relays.  In 2006, Wheatland FCU staff raised over $5000 for our Team "Charlie's Angels".  Our team is named after one of our own employees, Charlie Brinkman, who passed away several years ago of cancer.  In 2007, we intend to raise more than $5000 to help benefit this great cause.

  • United Way of Lancaster County, Each year Wheatland FCU and staff contribute to United Way. The money raised by donation or payroll deduction by employees is split up to benefit all the organizations associated with United Way.  In 2006, staff helped the United Way in the "Day of Caring", they went to the Arch Street Recreation Center and painted their billards room.  The Arch Street Recreation Center is a center for adults with mental and physical problems.

  • American Heart Associations "Heart Walk', Wheatland FCU sponsored a team called "Cameron's Crusaders".  Cameron was 16months old and was born with a congenital heart disease, at 10 weeks old Cameron had open heart surgery to repair his large Ventricular Septal Defect.  Cameron's mom is a WFCU member and asked us for donations to help sponsor their team in the "Heart Walk".
