Coverdell ESA (Education Savings Account)

A Coverdell ESA's sole purpose is to help pay for a child's education expenses, such as tuition, fees, books, etc. Contributions up to $2000 per year are never tax deductible. However, the withdrawals have the potential to be tax free,  including earnings. Unlike a state 529 plan, Coverdell ESA's can be used for qualified elementary and secondary education expenses.
